Hello my name is joe if you dont knom me already. Ive benn drafted into the army beacause of the Selective Training act of 1940 and the us isnt even at war, this is the first peace time draft ever. Any one between the ages 21 to 35 are elagble for the draft. I guss the us is just scared into being attacked by the Germans. the act barley passed it was decided by 1 vote. So many people are against the bill. I have to serve a minum of 12 months in the army. The us has drafted over 900,000 men. Also the men who are drafted are not allowed to leave the us. One of my friends was to scared to serve so he left the border, people like him are called desorters and if there caught they can be thrown in jail. I rember the day that all the men had to sign up. Over 16 million signed up throught the country. Other people refused the draft and were thrown in jail. It was november when the first people refused the draft and they were thrown in jail. I rember when the president signed the act, so many people were angry because they thought that the US was ganna be draged into the war. They were right, soon after the act was passed the Us went to war and the draft changed now anyone from the age of 18 to 45 was elagble for the draft.
